The Purpose of a Warm Up DJ
Building a warm up set is very important when DJing out, one of the main problems I see in the clubs nowadays is all the young warm up DJs banging out all the big hits one after another from the word go. It’s Obvious playing the most popular tunes is going to get the dance floor going like crazy. But at the beginning of the night the clubbers are just not ready for it.
You have to build up to the big tunes, first you have to tease your audience and get them in the spirit of a good night out. The idea of a warm up DJ is to get the dance floor going crazy just before you hand over to the next DJ, not wearing them all out.
Starting of slowly and dropping a few of your favourite unknown tunes, building up a friendly and happy atmosphere, and getting the crowd ready for a good night is the whole purpose of a warm up DJ. No ones going to walk straight into a club and start dancing from the word go, people will usually buy a few drinks and chill with friends first. Being a warm up DJ is is a very important aspect to any club night which most people don’t really appreciate . A good warm up DJ is worth his weight in gold. He’s the one who gets the crowd dancing and sets the mood for the whole night. The main purpose of the warm up DJ is to finish his set with the party bouncing, ready for the next DJ to take over.
